Who We Are?

About Us

The Electric Power Transmission Association (EPTA) was established in 2012 to safeguard the interests of transmission companies operating in India and to provide a common platform for dialogue, collaboration, and representation. The association works toward the overarching objective of ensuring a dependable and efficient electricity transmission network across the country. As India accelerates its renewable energy capacity and intensifies efforts to combat climate change, the transmission sector must undergo significant upgrades and expansion to support this transition.

With the Government adopting competitive bidding for most transmission projects, private sector participation has increased substantially. The sector’s ability to generate stable, long-term returns has also attracted investments from pension funds, private equity, and sovereign wealth funds. Achieving India’s ambitious net-zero goals requires strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, supported by progressive policies and substantial investment. With the right regulatory framework, India has the potential to emerge as a global leader in the transmission sector.

In this evolving landscape, EPTA plays a crucial role in representing the interests of transmission companies before the government, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders across India’s federal structure. The association advocates for supportive policies and regulations that facilitate the development and efficient operation of transmission projects. Based in New Delhi, EPTA is led by its President, Mr. Pratik Agrawal (MD – Sterlite Power), and Director General, Shri G P Upadhyaya (IAS, Retd). Its members include leading companies such as Adani Energy, Sterlite Power, Sekura Energy, Apraava Energy, G R Infra, and IndiGrid.
